Would you fold from diagrams with a black background?

It's a great idea and I would love to fold from diagrams with a black background.

It's the same thing to fold from diagrams with a black or white background.

I might fold from diagrams with a black background but I'd prefer white.

Diagrams in the web with black background?

Post by Gerardo »

I'm interested in this idea in order to make diagrams a little diferent, but I want to know what folders think about it. The diagrams are meant directly for the web; I would probably have a second print-friendly version for those of you that prefer printing the diagrams.

As you can see the background is in black and the lines, arrows, and letters are in white. This aren't the real diagrams I'm working on, they're top secret for now :P... this is just so you get an idea. Is there something you like about diagrams with a black background ? Is there something that you don't?

I appreciate it A LOT if you just vote... well, in case you don't want to also share your thoughts. Something as simple as a vote would help me very very much!

It does make lines and arrows stand out a bit, but what would happen when the paper is turned over and it's white?

That's a good point. Both sides would be grey, just different shades of grey :).

That's how they used to do it, before color :-) Looks fine, except for one tiny detail. For the people who want to print the diagrams, printing a black background is very 'expensive'. If you put a warning Not to print, and maybe create some printable option, that might address it.

So far I've only received five votes in the survey. It's important that I get many more votes to get a general idea of what folders think. Ok? If you think it doesn't make a difference, well there's actually an option that means that in the poll.

Thank you so much in advance :).

The poll doesn't work on my mobile, but I must say that the diagrams look very clear so far. I wonder if they stay clear when diagramming more complex folds or collapses. It reminds of the white/ black reading option you have with e-readers or similar devices.

I find white on black is easier to see. Very much so. But according to my optometrist, that is super weird.

@razmattaz. According to a lot of people it is less straining on the eyes. At least when looking a a screen.

Diagrams with black background are good for folding from a computer screen but I can't imagine how expansive books would be if the diagrams were black.
