Origamido Paper
Hello everyone.
I´m from Brazil and I´d like to know if there´s any way to import origamido paper, or, if there´s any way to learn how to make it. Is there any information about how to learn it? Even if I have to go to Japan or USA, I really Really want to learn it.
I tryed to contact Robert Lang and Michael LaFosse but I couldn´t get those informations. The dvd "origami frog" from michael lafosse is out of order so I can´t buy it to learn how ot make the paper.

If you ever want to make your own paper, Michael's books are great. They contain detailed instructions and his first book contains some recipes for paper. I haven't looked into it, but I think you can order pre-beaten paper fiber from some suppliers. You should be able to request the type(s) of fibers and how long they are beaten when you order. You still need some supplies like a frame, deckle, and tub of water, but it sounds very convenient.

Hm.. the book is nice, but only with the book´s instructions there´s no way to make the paper.
well, nice book anyway, I guess there are lots of things to learn yet. In 2 months I expect to be making my own origami paper.

You had suggested going to Japan or the US to learn... I think that Michael LaFosse still teaches people how to make his paper. I believe that Kamiya Satoshi stayed for a while to learn and to make his own collection of paper.
And, I think that Michael stayed with Yoshizawa in Japan to learn more about Origami.
I don't know what classes are being taught or where...

Through the fall, Michael will be in Haverhill, Massachusetts. From what I can understand, you can get a three day course in papermaking from him, all materials included for like $1200 USD. That gets you the lessons and the finished product, which I recall reading someplace is 120 to 150 (depending on thickness) sheets of 16 x 20 inch paper. There is also some option for 500 dollars which I think maybe just gets you the paper but not the lesson? Check his site http://www.origamido.com for details on that...or just call him.

I started making my own papers already, but it´s still a very rustic one and using other fibers... I need to import some fibers like abaca and true hemp.
Anyway, I guess having this course is kinda difficult to me now... I have lots of works on college so it´s really difficult to get some time to go to USA.
Ah, anything under U$5000 should be fine, I know it wont be cheap to make the papers, But I really want to make it here in Brazil, as it´s hard to find good origami paper here
