paper size for Fumiaki Kawahata's Origami Insects Volume 1
What size paper would you guys recommend for the folding of the models in Fumiaki Kawahata's Origami Insects Volume 1?
I don't have this book, but if they are all foldable from 15cm kami, then kraft paper should be fine, unless its the kind thats thicker than an average sheet of kami or printer paper.

I assume you mean the original version, as step 23 in the update version is an unfold...
Step 24 is and open sink, as you can see in step 24.
Step 25-27 is kinda confusing, but it's fun. I'll try to explains as best I can.
What you are doing is trying to make a point for a leg. To do this, pull the flap to you, (ignoring the valley fold, it's useless) make a mountain fold along the bird-base-like flap, and flatten it on the creases shown in step 26. If you need more help just ask.
I may not have been very clear...
Once you get this step , however, it is very easy and clever.
