I can see that I'm going to have to organise a raid on some people's houses to steal all their lovely paper supplies! :)

I love the idea of using the Ikea trouser hangers! It's brilliant!
When we get a house of our own (we rent) I'm going to do that!

As for me, well, I just fold where it suites me. This could be at my little craft table (where I have a my big cutting mat, and supplies of pencils, rulers, scalpels, etc), on some other spare table space, in bed, (when it's cold) or sometimes I just fold in the air - without any flat surface at all.
Folding in the air comes second to doing it at my craft table, actually, as I usually fold stuff when I am out somewhere to cure boredom. (I sometimes keep a stash of little papers in my handbag specially)

Is that paper thin? I ask because in the photo it looks thick.

GreyGeese in handmade-paper.us you can fins many papers from thin to thick.

JVega is not dificult but you need many material, and sometime this is dificul to fins depending where you live.

If you are interested you cand find very good information from Lafosse book "Advanced Origami"

Well, I built them to fit between the studs of the wall. So they kinda have to be a cetain size. I can always fold a model to fit into it, that's easier.
I have made some furniture for my models as well, I'll post some pictures.

My stuff

Post by Sara »

You don't know how jealous I am of giro, Daydreamer, and qtrollip right now! I'd love to have the paper, and such a great display area (and such great, folded models...).

I'm posting my stuff as a favor to origami_8. Just for you, here's a picture of my origami stuff and video equipment. I don't have a designated origami space as of yet, but this might change soon. We just moved house, and my bf thinks I should have an origami space. He's a star.

The top left corner is my current origami space:

* top shelf: some booklets and BOS issues, and my folded models (those that I kept); also, some letters related to origami I received.
* middle shelf: books, plus my markers, cutting knife, ruler
Ah, yes I have two ODS, but I'm about to sell one of them [long story short, I bought one, my bf's mother gave me one, my mother gave me one - I told my mother, but couldn't tell my bf's mother I already had it... even my relatives seem to know what's the good stuff!]
* bottom shelf: paper. Yeah, nothing to be envious of. Plus my small cutting mat.
* Not on the photo: my large cutting mat, and my long ruler

The other three pictures show my video equipment: my camera, my beloved tripod, and part of my lighting equipment (which my bf gave me for my birthday!)

Also not included: my computer, and the software I bought for editing videos - Final Cut Express is so much easier to work with!

And if you're wondering why I only have so few folded models - I just moved from Germany to England, and I had to radically get rid of everything I couldn't take. The rest went to the Oxford Origami Society, or in the bin... no that there was a great deal to admire there.

Sara, I think I can see some Tad Williams books there. I've read most of his books :-)

Some updates to my previous post:

Our library has grown a tiny bit and folders (not the human ones) have moved to a separate location:

We also emptied a display cabinet to hold some of our nicer models:

So long and keep folding ^_^

Cool book collections, one question though, why do sara and daydreamer have two copies of origami design secrets? lol

Second question, if I give you my adress can you send me your spair one? (joke of course)

Quentin, your office is stunning  , my old physiotherapist had porcelain dolls in his office! Creepy... (PS, your BOS booklet is awsome, bought it at the last convention in Nottingham, particularly love the owl and chameleon, looking forward to your next publication!)

Peace
Live forever man...

I noticed the two ODS as well, and why the two Passion Origamis also?
