"Wrapping" holiday gifts?

That's why I want to ask you a personal favor :

Would you please "wrap" a holiday gift using origami and share a photo here?

I know it's not exactly origami but this is what I went for this year. Past couple of years it's been some origami butterflies stuck on the present. This year I decided to go down the paper cutting route. Pleasantly surprised with how it turned out.

I don't really use origami, just standard wrapping with normal paper. But I don't cut it at all. 8D
I usually just use an origami model AS the present.

You don't have to create a new box or envelope, you can simply look for diagrams for the ones that already exist. Fold one for one of your gifts and share a photo

Can you help me with my English? How do you call the finished product of gift wrapping? I mean how do you call the wrapping paper once it's been folded, taped, and decorated with a bow and a card?

In Spanish the finished product is be called "empaque de regalos" or "envoltorio de regalos" and the process (gift wrapping) is called "empaquetado de regalos", although that term isn't that common.

Google translates your terms as "Gift package" or "Gift Wrapped" . In English, here are some synonyms:

Gift-wrapped present- I think this may be the closest. Implies wrapped in pretty paper.

Wrapped Gift or Wrapped Present - Could be wrapped with brown paper...
Gift Package - I don't think the connotation in English is the same, more commercial, like gift set, or collection of gifts.

You could embellish with 'elegantly' or 'artistically' gift-wrapped present

From what your saying I think there doesn't exist a term for what I'm saying. Gift-wrapped present refers to what's inside the paper (the present), while "empaque de regalos" refers to the paper itself but after you've wrapped the present with it. Know what I mean? What do you think?

Gift-wrapped present implies a very pretty package. That phrase refers both to the appearance, and a bit less to the contents.

Not sure, but I think that 'Gift-wrapped' or 'Gift-wrapped present' might be the closest match to 'empaque de regalos' ... You use wrapping paper to wrap a gift-wrapped present.

I want to share with you my holiday gift wrapped presents of this year.

I don't know what name does this one have. I figured it out by myself how to fold it, although I'm sure others had thought about it before me. I'm actually surprised I had not thought about it before. It's so practical and easy to fold!



I used as a card the traditional model: the Wind mill. And yes, I used tape to connect both models (gift wrapped present and card) :p.

If I had created it I would have called it: Tapeless gift wrapped present. I'm sharing a crease pattern so you can see how easy it is to fold.



Anyway, I made this gift wrapped present as a joke. Let me explain it to you: last year I had filled a thermos with styrofoam snow, and between the snow, I had inserted a gift certificate. Strange as it was, it never occured to them to look between the snow, and so, they didn't discover the certificate till like a month after Christmas, when they finally needed the thermos and decided to empty its styrofoam content. So, as a joke, I took once again the thermos from last year, I filled it again with the same snow, but this time I didn't hide the real present between the little balls; it was simply and old thermos filled with styrofoam and nothing else. Finally, I packed the thermos as the gift wrapped present of the second photo.

I'm quite crazy and dull with this little jokes .

There I included the gift, that like in the previous years, it was a gift certificate for a superlunch, or dinner, in another well-known restaurant in the city



As you can see in this other photo, I filled the box with lots of little papers, so it would feel bulky and heavy. I used as a fake bottom for the lid a small piece of paper of the precise dimensions and color, and I hid behind the fake bottom the gift certificate.

I know... 'Im very annoying with my litle jokes.

This last photo is of V.DOLZ's Sliding box. I folded it but someone else took it to "wrap" a gift for me. How advantageous and lazy they were! HAHAHA

Yes, it can be done and not really need a crease pattern, just alternate the flaps on the ends of the package or place the object in the middle of the paper and run a crease from the bottom corners up and cross the flaps at the top. The only problem is that the paper is too thin to hold in place for transport without string, ribbon or some sort of securing agent. I created a gift box using 12x12in scrapbook paper that can hold med-small objects , and if you are there you can show them how to refold the “puzzle” therefore making it reusable.
