I know, this is like one of the the oldest threads on the forum, but I was going backwards from the last page looking for an interesting thread. This one caught my eye. The most expensive paper I have ever bought was a 40AUD$(Australian dollars) amazing sheet made of of Gampi fibre. It was wunderfully thin and as soft as silk. I bought it about a year ago, but still haven't used it because it's "too special". I might use it for one of my later designs that is suited to this paper and worth it, too.

Sounds like me. I bought a couple sheets of this amazing gampi and kozo at $15 USD apiece a few years ago and still haven't folded anything with them. I want to use them for my own work, and I haven't really felt any of my designs would benefit tremendously from such strong thin amazing paper. I don't do too many arthropods.

Well, I haven't folded anything with Origamido, but my friend bought some at the OUSA convention back in June, and he said that they were selling single sheets for 8$ each.

I bought some $8 frog paper from Origamido and it is amazing. In addition to the nice color and folding quality, you also get Michael Lafosse's expertise as part of the deal.
I had made a mistake and posted that the paper was sun damaged, and Michael asked for a piece to determine the problem. He found that it was a very minor color issue and offered me a few more pieces for my trouble.
Then he told about some of the remarkable properties.
1. Obviously (or maybe not!) it is sturdy and archival quality.
2. It holds a fold great and it is consistent with wet folding.
3. And, one of my favorite properties - if you screw up the fold, you can unfold the paper and either wet it and let it dry, or iron out the wrinkles... then it is as good as new.
It is great paper for folding models that you want to display and keep.

True that. I went to a public University though, so mine's a fair bit cheaper.
Also, I realized that per square inch/cm/whatever, $8 paper made by Origamido is indeed still more expensive than $15 kozo and even Nicolas Terry's Deluxe Washi Gold (if you order one square)
Price per square inch:

Usually when I go for my paper restock the total price is less than 10 dollars!
This was my most recent one:
15 sheets of Mammal Paper (A4): $3
1 packet of Italian Tissue (A1, 10 sheets): $1.90
2 sheets of crumpled paper (62cm by 64cm): $1.80
And the 'Grand' Total: $6.70
And convert to USD it is about $10!
So yeah, whether it is Washi, Gold, or Origamido paper, they are still a dream far away...
