Second of all, my "kit" tends to be modular with layers that can be shed for space/weight.

The core of it all is a storage clipboard. Basically a thin box that functions as a clip board. Inside this I keep a selection of papers, diagrams, and books that suit my current mood. Right now that would include Pacon paper squares and the hydrangea book, among others. There is also room for a few tools, so I have a spare folder, some skewers, a chopstick, and my tweezers in there.

The bag that clipboard goes into holds more books and paper as well as a small misting spray bottle, mini-clothespins, a couple different folders, additional tweezers, and other misc items.

Here is the array of some of my tools. The folder I keep in my pocket is not pictured. In the clipboard I keep the three things on the left, the plastic folder near the middle, and the la cross tweezers in the lower right. Most of the rest of these are found in the larger bag.

Your kit is pretty impressive. I haven't found that clipboard box that you mentioned, it sounds really good. As for diagrams, I guess I just gotta be more diligent in changing the diagrams in my kit....

And I still gotta get tweezers... What is the spray bottle for? wet folding?

Thanks for all the input guys ;)

I usually see storage clipboards at office supply stores. Most of them are plastic of varying price and quality, some are made from aluminium. I aspire to get a metal one someday, but since mine is currently functional I don't feel like spending the money on it. The one I have has a handle on one end, which is... handy.

And yeah, the bottle is for wet folding.

A good place for the metal clipboards, in addition to office supply stores, are home improvement stores. I picked one up at Home Depot for about 1/2 the price of the same basic item at Office Max...

Nice thread, I usually just bring paper around, though tweezers and toothpick/skewer would probably be great to have around, especially for things like Lang's tree frog. I normally try to keep a few nice origami (though not too hard) memorized, rather then bringing books along, a good group of things to memorize imo is the strawberry (not sure who designed but was taught at a cherry blossom festival), Lang's tree frog, modified kawasaki rose, Kade Chan's fiery dragon, Montroll's tyrannosaurus right now. All of which can be done nicely with 6" or smaller paper so just using an old 6" paper package I put in 6" and smaller paper which for the most part can be folded in the air or any small surface. These are also nice items that a wide range of people can enjoy when you make it and give them away.
