eyeballing it, it has the rather distinctive crinkled look of tissue foil.

I don't think it is tissue foil. It looks like the kind of paper Konan767 used when he folded Gabriel 3.0 by Hojyo Takashi. I don't know what it is called though...

I received Licence to Fold in the mail today. I have just got to say this is the most classy origami book I have ever seen. Bravo Nicolas!

If I had the money to actually buy the book, I would probably be saying the same thing. :)

Hi! It's been a long while since I've been active on here. I deleted my Dropbox years ago, so some things, like my Dragonfly Varileg guide, are lost to time. I may still have other things, though! Email me if you have any questions.

Hmmm, my page loads - does you internet say that it can't load the page, or does it just keep loading... and loading... ..and loading for so long that it seems like it will never load?

The PDF file is 6.5 MB large, and the speed at which one can download it from Mr Terry's website isn't great, hence most browsers crash/take ages to open the page. The best thing you can do is to right-click and save the target file on your computer and then open it.

I got my copy of Origami Essence, much earlier than expected, and it is indeed a beautiful book. Congrats to both Nicolas Terry and Roman Diaz.

On another inflammatory note, I notice that Kamiya has diagrammed his minotaur. He's quite prolific... perhaps he and Monsieur Terry should collaborate on Kamiya's next book (as really, at this point, it's just a matter of getting a whole bunch of diagrams that are already published together as another anthology, then putting in 1-2 unreleased diagrams. And I'm pretty sure Kamiya has even more models diagrammed, he's just publishing them way too quickly to be doing all of these on the fly). Maybe that way we'll see his second book some time this decade. I'm sorry, I can't help but get a dig at Origami House; Origami Essence is at least the 3rd high quality book that passionorigami has put out in 4 years, and it really has been some time since Origami House has published anything (aside from the convention books).

I don't get it. Ignoring any other factors that make the two businesses different, you seem to be implying that 3 books in 4 years is more prolific than 1 book every year plus the occasional extra book. Maybe you should recheck your math.
