Well, it is a compilation that doesn't take one long extensive commitment from one person.
Also, there are other differences. It's the authors that decide how long it takes to write their books. Nicolas and Yamaguchi have different ways of working with their featured authors. Nicolas's joke is not far from the truth:
TERRY Nicolas wrote:Thanks but it's because OrigamiHouse is full of respect of his author, giving them so many time to make their book.
For myself, I prefer to catch my authors who become my slaves and threats them with a gun until they write for me a book every 6 months!
It's not very fair, but an artist must suffer for the origami community, isn'it ?
Nicolas
Also, some books are planned and just don't/can't happen. For instance the original Origami Insects II (by Meguro) never happened. Robert's became Insects 2 in its place. Also, Komatsu and Brian are among the authors whose books Origami House is planning to publish in the near future.

It doesn't take as much of a commitment from one designer, but I would argue that it takes more effort on the part of the editor(s), which may create a bottleneck.
I finally got my copy of License, and let me just say this: if you can get this book, you should - I got it about ten minutes ago, and almost fell over with excitement... Good job, Nicolas
I still can't fold anything until I finish pre-creasing my Ryu Jin 3.5 attempt . I have relatives over for the rest of the weekend, and this coming week, so my progress has been going very slow, and I would feel terrible about folding anything else when I could be folding my 3.5... I'm looking foreward to doing the eagle, and the swordman out of the 19 inch square tracing paper that I got for Christmas .
rice papers? It's probably not gonna hold together unless you add more MC while shaping.
Of course I'm mcing it! I'm getting ready a small glass of MC for the boxing mantis project, though I think making the legs as thin as his would still be close to impossible.
Those rice papers are beautiful and are 'bout 30 gsm each.
To you guys who have just got Licence To Fold, make sure you have got the corrections to the eagle on page 13 of this thread. Otherwise the tail doesn't work properly and all that work will go to waste.

i know the secret code can't be given out, but is anyone allowed to say what the bonus models are if you figure it out? i might use that as an incentive to try and figure out the code...
also, at the time, malachi, i didn't feel like typing out my response. but the bottom line, for instance, is that the delay with both the komatsu and kamiya books are a little bit of a head scratching. editing is almost irrelevant. the diagrams are DONE--UNLESS the books contain all new, previously unpublished diagrams. which COULD be the case, but i frankly find that highly doubtful.
hideo komatsu assuredly has enough previously published models to put together and release as an anthology. the notion that a delay is due to editing is frankly absurd; komatsu's diagrams are of legendary crystal clarity, to the point that HE frequently diagrams OTHER creator's models. of course, gallery origami house consistently puts out very high production value books, which could represent another obstacle, but the truth is hideo komatsu could release the book in newsprint with spiral binding and i'm sure the folding public would still be willing to pay beaucoup bucks, DESPITE the fact that many of us already would have many of those diagrams in older publications.
I ordered the gift set. Get 3 books with a discount. I also got the vog book. Good thing about that one is you can get the pdf within hours. i've folded 6 of the models while waiting for them all to arrive.
