And until last year I did not get published at all, so guess not just known names...

I don't think I could get it this year.
Only three models I'd really look forward to folding, just... eh. Not that fun. :?
Consider it like a video game; does it have replay value?
It seems sort of a disappointment compared to past models put in their books.

That Nick Robinson elephant looks suspiciously familiar... Also Lang's DeZZ unit was published in The Fold about two months ago. And you might recognize Max Hulme's Pixel Unit from OUSA's 2009 collection.

Seriously, they're not even trying anymore. I don't mind seeing good content republished occasionally, but when they make originality a condition of submission, and then republish diagrams anyway... [-X

Still I know of some really good models by well known origamists having been rejected because the models had been published already. Best example is Artur Biernacki's Merlion.

And the negative response towards the contents is not very rewarding for those that have been selected (not even talking about myself).

The only model I just don't get is the crane...

I think it's supposed to be a pureland version of the traditional crane, but you're right--there's really no reason to publish something like that.

It's pretty rare that there are a lot of good models in a compilation, anyway. I've got my eye on the insects and modulars, as well as the mytholocigal creature(s) (Shachihokoo and Nekomata, anyone?). And we get some Jason Ku and Manuel Sirgo, which is always nice.
i'm still not 100% sure that I'll buy this one, but there are some nice models.
After the fall, we rise.

I'd just buy it for the beetles and a few other models (jellyfish, squid, alien, etc) but nevertheless there still is some great models in there. enough to spend 50$ on? i don't know yet. but still, tanteidan's are collectable so i prohbably will get it anyways

the Nekomata was very popular at the OUSA convention, looked cool and i got shut out of the class, so that alone may be worth it.
