Flame_Kurosei that is great list. That's one of the prettiest fishes I've ever seen. The Civet looks very nice, looks like a combination of other animals. That oar fish, would indeed be nice and doable. A colorchange for the dorsal fin along the enire body and some small flaps for the points sticking out the head.
For that arrow crab you're gonna need the thinnest paper available!

I seem to remember seeing a zebu somewhere, maybe by Trollip. And I saw an oar fish on someone's Flickr.

@roodborst Thanks--glad I somewhat helped. I completely agree with the arrow crab needing thin paper though.
@Baltorigamist Hm really? That's cool! I'm going to look it up! :D
EDIT: I just typed "zebu" and "oarfish" and "oar fish" into the origami forum search and the animal didn't come up. Also, "zebu" doesn't show up on search for Trollip's flickr. I'm guessing it was somewhere else then, or in a different language. Do you happen to know where they were though? I'd really like to see them sometime. :)
A tiny place to post my things. Enjoy~

Maybe I remembered wrong; it's hard to say. He's done so many antelope-type animals they all run together after a while.

Has a Westie been done? Those things are so cute!

Alright, a few examples for you! These might have been done in origami, but I have not come across examples. If you want a challenge, several could be colour-changed.

Little egret
Spoonbill
Drongo
Superb lyrebird
Frigate bird displaying or flying
Lapwing
And my favourite,
Avocet

Thanks for your contribution chris_t!
I googled the animals to see if they have been done:
(little) egret
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4050/514 ... 2d0536.jpg
There are actually a bunch of egrets, not sure if it is the 'little' one.

Spoonbill
Has not been done! It got a very distinctive beak, so it would make a nice model

drongo
Couldn't find this one either. Is it a type of swallow?

Superb lyrebird.
There are a few models of lyrebirds

Frigate bird
A model does pop up on google, but it has three colors a seems to be more papercraft than origami, so this one counts aswell! The Red chest sack seems pretty interesting indeed to incorporate in the model, with a colorchange!

Lapwing
Seems easy enough, just make a model with two feathers sticking out of the back of the head.

Avocet
Also a very distinctive beak. Maybe a crane model can be altered to look like this. Just thinking out loud.

My favorite has to be the frigate bird!

And since this topic was meant to be an inspiration to design, I'll present the very first Maned Wolf

Image
Origami maned wolf by roodborst078, on Flickr

This is my sixth fold of the model. The first few had better manes but this latter one had a more precise color change, I noticed the face was partially black also in some pictures. I made some Tissue foil especially for the maned wolf. The legs are still to short to my liking btw.
There is a group pic of the other folds in my gallery/ flickr.

Nice one!

I don't think I've ever seen a scorpionfly, to be honest. I've always wanted to do one though.

Picture of scorpionfly http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/195/dsc2642mk.jpg/
And there origami counterparts:

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5206/521 ... 911d64.jpg

To bad it has already been done, but still it is a challanging animal to make a model of, I can see why you would to create one.

Hey Origamigeek thanks for your contribution!
I checked if I could find a origami model.
Rock Hyrax
Has not been done

Raggiana Bird-of-Paradise
This specific BoP I could not find, but there a BoP models, just not a lot

Scissor-tailed Flycatcher
Very nice animal, with a kinda of comb on the head and a very special tail but.....
http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6060/6241 ... 3b77_m.jpg
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4117/474 ... a56c10.jpg
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4150/503 ... 6e3f5f.jpg
I found three models, I like the first one best btw

Kiwi
I already knew, that Roman Diaz did this model. He had a Crease Pattern in one of his books. Also if you can't do a CP (like me) here is a video by Tadashi Mori:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iF1WBuD7Gak
Please note that in this video, he only shows you how to make one of the legs. I made this one from the video with the sound of and ended up with a one-legged kiwi.

So the Rock hyrax was valid, but the most interesting to me was the flycatcher. Although it has already been done it got some nice features to make it stand out.
And it's great to see that indeed not all birds are alike and that they are worthy of making a model!

Hey origamigeek you like to keep me busy, but that's ok :D . I'm really liking this topic so I don't mind doing the checkup.

Ok here I go:
Aye aye
Too bad. I found this one some ago. One of the reasons for starting this topic. It's such a weird rare animal that I was surprised that it was done, pretty good aswell, here's a pic:
http://farm5.staticflickr.com/4025/5150 ... 7fb6_z.jpg

Gulper eel.
That's funny, I searched for this one like 2 days ago, thinking ' this one for sure has not been done'...but:
http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6072/6083 ... 22f0_m.jpg
I'm giving this link aswell, it has been my wallpaper for a couple off months:
http://photography.nationalgeographic.c ... 579-sw.jpg

Oreo-dory
Couldn't find one at first glance, kinda scary fish!

Lizard fish
There was a dollar bill one But that doesn't count. (not to me at least)

Shovel Nosed Lobster
That's a cool one, I hadn't seen been before. A good challange for the insectfolders outthere. or and antrepode if that's the right name? not sure.

I also checked out the top 10 you mentioned.
Tarsiers
http://www.toptenz.net/wp-content/uploa ... rsiers.jpg pic of the animal
http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5178/548 ... 9a86cd.jpg origami counterpart

Okapi
http://www.toptenz.net/wp-content/uploa ... /Okapi.jpg pic of the animal
http://www.giladorigami.com/P_Okapi_Katsuhisa.JPG
http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7182/6928 ... 1617_z.jpg
Second and third are to the origami model. The second one is really great. Actually found this one myself recently and have been looking for the diagrams, this David Lanque has got some really nice animal models btw

Sao Tome Shrew
http://www.travelblog.org/Photos/3087252 elephant shrew.
I saw this one in the zoo a couple of months ago. And when I got home I searched for some information. It is actually related more to elephants (DNA ) than mouses.
Of the elephant shrew is a model, looks complex:
http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_K2sHwTonnGY/S ... %B1a+1.JPG

Red wolf:
I'm not gonna search for this one there are a bunch of wolves, although maybe not red.

Northern Hairy-Nosed Wombat
the wombat in general has not been done, not the five step model that could be anything that popped up on google. I'm surprised I think that should be an animal that deserves a model.Cuteness is off the radar

Seychelles Sheath-Tailed Bat
This specific type of bat has not been done but there are alot of bat-models out there.

Javan Rhino
If I'm correct this also the white rhino.
http://www.giladorigami.com/P_Rhinoceros_Trollip.JPG
Trollip has some great animal designs, He has done some amazing gazelle and bocks type animals

Golden Tabby Tiger
Also I just recently discovered this animal, on my search for origami models I've been delving into different animals aswell. I must say this has to be one of the most magnificent looking animals I've ever seen. Again this specific tiger has not been done. But I'll give you link to some of the best looking models of tiger i've seen so far.
http://www.progonos.com/furuti/Origami/ ... 4878_A.JPG
Using a colorchange to create stripes
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2001/234 ... a58944.jpg
Great proportions and 'feel'
http://www.giladorigami.com/P_Tiger_NIshikawa.JPG
This face is great, tried to fold it once but failed, wrong paper, I'll have to remember to try this one again.

Still 2 more to go:
Yangtze River Dolphin
This variation of dolphin has not been done. There are some dolphin models:
http://www.origamiclub.info/wp-content/ ... rigami.jpg
http://www.giladorigami.com/P_Dolphin_Muro.JPG
http://www.giladorigami.com/P_Dolphin_Ku.JPG

Finally the last one (been searching for a hour by now)
Pina Island Tortoise
No model yet but the tortoise has been done. Btw. can anyone tell me what's the differents between a turtle and a tortoise?
Models:
http://www.giladorigami.com/P_Turtle_Romain.JPG
http://www.origami.as/Gallery/EJoisel/tortoise1.jpg
The one by joisel is really nice!

Ok that's it for now, please feel free to add to the growing list!!

@Roodborst
Turtles tend to be more aquatic, with webbed feet and the like, whereas tortoises tend to be more of the arid regions, with their rounded feet. Also, the tortoise is a land-dweller, where as a turtle could also live in the sea.
Hope I helped. :)
