where on earth do people get 50cm paper from? ive never seen it. and florists give me funny looks when i ask them

It always depends on what kind of paper you want.
You can get tissue paper and gift wrapping paper in sizes of 50cm and above.
Problem with tissue paper is rather to get the foil to make tissue foil in that size. With gift wrapping paper you should look out for those with rough surfaces which are better for folding than those with smooth surfaces.

I never tried a florist since I wouldn't know what to ask for....

There's a lot of offers for big rolls of Kraft paper on ebay.
Just make sure to get a thin one (40g or such) :)
