Origami Buildings and Skyscrapers

Post by Scoopey »

Hello folks,
General query...does anyone know if there is a book or even freebie diagrams of origami buildings.
I like combining models into bigger displays and after folding an origami robot I figured I could put it in a scene with a Godzilla type creature...sort of Origami Pacific rim.
Only problem is I can't find any buildings!

I can find plenty of kirigami books on the subject and even ones that claim they are origami and then suggest cutting out parts but I can't find anything approaching "pure" origami, simply folded. I'd even take modular stuff if I could find it!

There's Origami City, by Shuki Kato and Jordan Langerak, which while less than what it promises is a pretty decent book. They're all specific buildings, but you might be able to extrapolate a more general approach for generic skyscrapers. On the specific buildings front, there's also a great model of La Sagrada Familia in one of the Pajarita magazines.

Yoshihide Momotani has a pretty spectacular house building set. I'm not sure which of his many books features it the best but from the ones I own "Origami Amusement Park" has a decent variety of stunning building units for pure Origami buildings. "Doll's House with Origami" is probably also a very good book with many lovely details for scenes.

The recent theFold 28 features an article about the subject that sounds pretty interesting from the description, but given that I didn't renew my subscription I haven't read it yet: https://origamiusa.org/thefold/issue/28

There are also several simple houses and more elaborate castles by various authors. The Origami Database lists a good amount if you search for house or castle: http://origamidatabase.com/

Edit:
For a less realistic approach there are also two Oriland eBooks:
