Origami Exchange Program

I would like to propose an origami exchange program for designers. It is slightly similar to the white elephant gift exchange (if you know what it is), except there are only two participants.

How to participate:
1. Pick a fellow origamist (the exchange is only between 2 people, so both have to agree to it)
2. Choose specific models (or propose one) that require about the same amount of time to fold/design
3. Fold the models
4. Send through mail (only cost is shipping)

Why participate?
The point of this exchange is not to make money, but to bring more value to the origami market scene. Due to a lack of a market for origami art pieces, this exchange will hopefully stimulate demand for complex origami pieces and possibly help initiate a market in the future. It'll also give us, origami artists more meaning to what we do and a better appreciation of the work of our fellow origamists.

Let me know what you guys think. Any suggestions?

If this is for designers, why don't the designers simply email the cp/diagrams for the model, and then fold each other's work?

I think you confused the difference between a designer and a folder. A "designer" is defined as someone who designs, while a folder is someone who folds other people's stuff.

Anyone can fold from cp or diagram, but there is only one creator. A model folded by its creator is by far more valuable than one folded by someone else. As a designer, I value the finished product more than the process of folding it. Most folders don't appreciate the final piece as much as they should; they fold it and then put it away right after. Which would you rather have: an ancient dragon you folded from diagrams, or an ancient dragon folded by Kamiya himself?

The goal is to stimulate demand and exchange of origami pieces, which will hopefully generate a market, establishing origami as a legitimate art in the art community. In the future, I would like to see more people buy and sell origami as they do with other art forms like pottery and paintings. By allowing designers to fold and collect origami pieces without having to pay money, we can at least take a step in the right direction. Also, knowing that your designed work of art is going to be given to someone who will appreciate it gives the process much more meaning.

Yes, I know. Your original post says designers, so I thought it was for feedback or something.
