I don't think so. It probably falls under fair use. If you mass-mailed it to people, or posted it on a website, that would be different.

It was a comment regarding the current legal actions being undertaken by the RIAA and several publishers, basically they try to claim they are losing millions to piracy just like they did when radios and walkmans were released.
A lot of publishers are jumping on the bandwagon due to the advent of E-Books, they want an end to free use which means no more listening to your music with friends, no more mix tapes and most certinally no more photocopying a diagram from a book
