Imagiro is kinda cool. It's based on the concept of vectors formed by creases forming shapes that resemble animals or things. Imagiro may appear different to others; E.g. I may see a Cat but you may see an owl. It's based on very simple crease patterns. See Extreme Origami; Kunihiko Kasahara.

Where have you guys been living! Has anyone read Extreme Origami? It has 2 articles on it... Basically, its abstract origami. Say, you fold a few lines and then you might see a cat. But say, your friend might see an owl... You add more folds and then it becomes and actual model. I can't really explain it so maybe you should read Extreme Origami. It's way cool.

Haven´t read through this book yet. I´ve gotten a (german) copy from a friend some time ago, but found it rather uninteresting due to the high amount of non-Origami techniques used inside.
The chapter you´re refering to has the title "Mit der Gestalt experimentieren" what means "experimenting with the shape". Maybe I should read that chapter if you are so fond of...

So basically you're saying that it's like folding randomly until you see something, and decide where to go from there?

I've done that before!

No, the idea (as I understand it) is to create a rather simple (almost abstract) design of something which still is recognisable as a cat (to stick with the prior example) but might also be recognisable as an owl, hence leaving a lot up to the IMAGination of the viewer.
