Diagramming

Post by gilad_zn »

Hello all!

I've been having to diagram quite a bit these last couple of weeks working on the Israeli Annual Origami Collection 2004, and I just wanted to know if anyone here has any little tips.

I currently do not have Freehand, and I will not until I start studying in October (due to major student discounts). I'm currently using a method that is half hand-drawn and half computer. I draw the diagrams themselves by hand, then I scan them. One they are on the computer, I clean them up, add arrows and text and save them once more.

I also HAVE to point people to Robert Lang's article about diagramming, which has really helped me. It's pretty long (30 pages) but is very interesting.

Origami SD does the trick. It simulates a piece of paper for you to fold, you fold it, then you export diagrams,in post script format, and hey presto, you have cool, easy to read diagrams!!

that. efficcient, slow, slightly unresponsive but handy like any diagramming program really  . It churns out postscript format diagrams though :? , and to view, basic edit and print them, you need two free programs or one very expensive one #-o (free=ghostscript+something else which I have forgotten it's name, not used and haven't seen or heard of because someone else downloaded it for me 8) , expensive = the very latest version of adobe reader (VERY LATEST  ))
