I have designed origami horses, all with the same proportions, ie the basic base is the same. There are 14 variants, each one with different legs, wings or unicorn.
I will post them as I have folded them (which may take several weeks).
Each is from an uncut square.

The plain Horse:

Eight-legged Horse
The legs are split higher than Kamiya's, so a bigger variety of leg poses are possible:


Unicorn. The tail was borrowed from Kamiya, but it is from a totally different base.

Beautiful artwork. Especially the unicorn.

here is Unicorn version 2, with detailed hooves. It also shows the color-changes as it was folded from foil.
BTW, all the above horses' manes are color-changed.

I made diagrams for the "Plain Horse", but it needs some changes and finishing (ie arrows and stuff).
When I finish it I'll let you know.

I'm not volunteering personally, but some creative soul may be able to figure out how to modify the diagram flow to simplify the "nasty sink fold."

So, after you are satisfied with the diagrams and ready to allow us to play, could you also try to do a CP ?

I've seen lots of folks on this Forum who can reverse engineer from a photo, maybe they can apply that talent to make easier diagram steps ?

Thank you Hank. This weekend I'm gonna try a different folding procedure. If that doesn't work, I'll have to find time to finish the diagrams and see if someone else can come up with a sequence that prevents the sink.

Very nice horses Quentin! I especially like the unicorns and the plain horse, you really captured the elegance of a horse.

I'm currently working on rehashing my red winged black bird, using a different circle packing for the base, in order to get longer toes, and to make it a bit more elegant. It's still pretty slow going, cause I'm a beginner at this, but I've been looking at some of Seth Friedman and Brian Chan's work, and getting a bit of inspiration . I'm hoping to have something to post soon, but university is keeping me busy.

Either way, your Red-winged Blackbird has so much potential, and the hard work is already done. It just needs the fine tuning! It's also a good thing you're striving for excellence.

Still on the horse theme:
Hippocampus, designed 27 Feb 2008 from a photo of the Trevi Fountain in Rome, Italy. Folded from an uncut square (50 cm) Canson paper (dry wet-folded).

Dang man, how long have you been working on all of these horses. Slow down!

I just realised the Hippocampus has little wings..
Beautiful work on all of the horse models. The new unicorn is a definite fav!!
