I've been under the impression for a while that Hideo was working to publish a book of his works. Has there been any new information regarding if its actually happening?

no one really knows when, exactly, komatsu's book will come out, if at all. in reality, it should be out by now--he has enough published diagrams that it's simply a matter of putting them all together in one place (nearly everything on his website, he has already diagrammed, and is available in disparate places). so the real question is why there isn't a book yet.

Well, from what I've heard it's going to be published with Origami House, the same people that published Satoshi Kamiya's book. A while back one of the members of the forum said that he went to a convention that Komatsu was attending, and the book was supposed to be ready for that convention, but was delayed (if I am truly remembering correctly; maybe someone else can fill us in better.). I am really anticipating this book, I have my $50 set aside for the day when it comes out!

Well, all the previous origamihouse books have been around $45 - $50, so I'm just speculationg that this trend will continue.

It most likely will be about 50$, although maybe there will be plenty more models than previous books, and the price will be higher

I have most of his models in various tanteidans, etc, but I'd love to have them all in one book. I'm eagerly awaiting his lion diagrams. I love his folding sequences that he diagrams.

I don't think I have ever folded anything by him...

That's a shame! Folding Komatsu stuff is an experience on it's own. All the creases fall in place on their own, it's like magic. You should try to get your hands on some Komatsu diagrams and fold some of his stuff, you won't regret it.

By the way, the lion will be in the book, I had the possibility to fold it from the diagrams once, but I can't remember anything about the folding sequence because I folded it half asleep. Hopefully it won't be too long until the book finally comes out.

I might try some of his CPs if they weren't so indecipherable! There are creases everywhere-he incorporates all of the shaping folds in his CPs, doesn't he?

Yes, his CPs are a bit overloaded, but his diagrams are a dream to fold from. You should especially try his horse and owl.

That's what I love most about his models! He uses very rigid polygons and sharp angle to achieve very supple, elegant final models. They have a lot of personality too.

actually, jon, the horse and tiger CP's are quite easy, but im really struggling to cope with the giraffe, hippo and lion (hard one).
