hi
i've made an origami present for someone and i would just like to know if anyone has tried to encase their papercraft in clear resin?
i think it would look good and i need to send the present abroad, so it would be safe.

also have you got any ideas for a romantic origamic present?
i want to make something but i'm not sure what to do, the idea i came up with is to make a 3d swan and to fill up the middle of the swan with red origami roses.

hope you can help

I know Bernie Peyton has used some sort of Acrylic plastic...

I have thought about doing this too.
I have a dandelion encased in resin, and that's much more intricate, delicate and fragile than origami, so I'm sure it would work.

How complex do you want?
There are a lot of options.
There are some very simple but nice hearts.
The Kawasaki Rose and other flowers are a bit more complicated.
At the high end there are things like The Last Waltz.

i actually made a dozen roses with stems in a vase for her birthday

i thought of doing something different which is why i thought of doing the 3d swan
do you think that it would make a romantic gift?

There are a lot of 3-d swans out there. I have no idea which one you're talking about.

I'd forget trying to find something you think is "romantic" and do something you think he/she would really like. Symbolic meaning aside, originality is way better than pop culture conformity.

David Derudas has a model called 'due cigne' 2 swans that I found on line a while ago and it's a great fold. The swans necks spiral each other. Try a search and you should find it.

Here are the diagrams for those two swans: http://www.pajarita.org/aep/internacion ... ern1-1.pdf

If you fold it neatly it would make an excellent romantic present.
