What size paper would you guys recommend for the folding of the models in Fumiaki Kawahata's Origami Insects Volume 1?

15cm paper can do it, (I used 15cm kami for my first tries... the horror) but I recommend bigger paper, about 20cm+ for your first tries.

I don't have this book, but if they are all foldable from 15cm kami, then kraft paper should be fine, unless its the kind thats thicker than an average sheet of kami or printer paper.

If it's kami thickness, it should be fine.

I would recommend a larger sheet for your first try. Maybe something around 25cm?

I assume you mean the original version, as step 23 in the update version is an unfold...

Step 24 is and open sink, as you can see in step 24.
Step 25-27 is kinda confusing, but it's fun. I'll try to explains as best I can.
What you are doing is trying to make a point for a leg. To do this, pull the flap to you, (ignoring the valley fold, it's useless) make a mountain fold along the bird-base-like flap, and flatten it on the creases shown in step 26. If you need more help just ask. I may not have been very clear...
Once you get this step , however, it is very easy and clever.

I have tried time and time again to do step 26 following your intructions but I can't get it right. Would it be ok if you could photograph this step?
When you have time of course

I managed to get the shape shown in step 26 but now the problem is that I cannot flatten the model. Am I doing the fold correctly?
