Kamiya video

I found this on dailymotion, obviously from a Japanese game show with Kamiya-san a guest expert. Doesn't show great detail but anything showing his folding interests me.

It's just some kind of Japanese polite form of address.

Interesting detail - san is a near equivalent to the English - Mr. or Mrs. [or Ms.] The traditional Japanese culture is more formal than the average American, but that may be changing as the youth embrace western culture.
Also, Japanese first names and family names may in reversed order from English names... However, some Japanese may write their Anglicized names in English order.
So that begs the question: Kamiya-san or Satoshi-san
I think that we can be forgiven for not getting things correct - just like most of us don't mind with non-English speakers [as well as some native speakers
] have trouble with English.
What matters is the Origami, and honest attempt, and respect...

Anyway, if it is the problem to say "Kamiya-san" or "Satoshi-san", why don't you just call him Satoshi Kamiya?

Kamiya-san or Kamiya Satoshi or Kamiya. Japanese prefer to be called by their last names.
If I were to meet him I would introduce myself, and see what he called himself.

He won't call himself san because that would be impolite. You only add -san to other names but never to your own.

Right, right. Sorry, what I meant was whether he would call himself Kamiya, Kamiya Satoshi, Satoshi, or Satoshi Kamiya, or Bob.

He would call himself "Watashi" when he talks to other people.
