What is a good first time book for those who wish to start folding insects? I began to fold some mocdels from "Origami Insects" by Lang. I soon gave up. Anything that would be a better first time book?

Well, insects in general are a pain, but Montroll's Bugs and Birds in Origami (or soething like that) has easier bugs than Lang's.

Katsuhisa Yamada has some pretty nice Insect books with not so hard models. I think you can order them from Sasugabooks or Amazon.co.jp

you could also try montroll's origami for the enthusiast and animal origami for the enthusiast (the latter of which doesn't really have any insects, but the spider, crab, and lobster are close enough).
in general, i believe that insects that just use classic blintzed bases will be easier than the more modern stuff.

I'd suggest folding horses and wolves, and stuff that uses similar structures to those insects, but fewer of them, to keep the design less complex. John Montroll's Origami for the Enthusiast and Animal Origami for the Enthusiast use this style. Also Origami Sea Life has a bunch of stuff (but it gets extremely complex toward the end).
Oh, and just about anything by Noboru Miyajima is good too. And any animal by Jun Maekawa.
