between the folds

Alright what is the difference between ordering between the folds at Amazon, and ordering it from Michael LaFosse's website? The reason I ask this is a quote from his online store: "Vanessa Gould's award winning film Between the Folds. Includes extra footage and interviews.". Does this mean that theres exclusive footage by ordering from his site? any help will be appreciated!

I believe that the content & added content is the same.
Amazon is taking preorders for Jan 5th release.
Other sites may well be able to send much sooner.
May I wish success to all who cope with the mountains & valleys of Life,
with all its peaks & depths, as well as Origami .

I don't see any mention on Amazon's site about the extra footage, and on top of that, from the title on the Amazon page, it appears that it's only the PBS version that's being sold - notice that it says "Independent Lens", which is from PBS.

This summer at OrigamiUSA Vanessa Gould was selling a limited edition version of Between the Folds, which is slightly different than the version to be soon released. I imagine that Michael LaFosse will be selling the newer version.

In my opinion, though, if you want to support Vanessa Gould's efforts to produce this wonderful film more directly, you can purchase it directly from her website here:
http://www.greenfusefilms.com/store.html
On her website it says that there are 30 minutes of outtakes, including papermaking footage from Michael LaFosse's studio, plus a short movie about use of origami in math education in Israel.

I was given a copy of Between The Folds, purchased from PBS, and it has the Israeli Origametria, Lafosse, and other outtakes. As a copyright piece of work, I would believe that any re-seller - Amazon or Lafosse - would have to buy copies to support Vanessa Gould. I do not know this, but I suspect it.

Some places - Amazon (?) - may have a deal or may buy in quantity, so that they could sell it more cheaply, but I suspect that Vanessa benefits from all sales.

For what it is worth, my version is: ISBN: 978-1-60883-126-5
Other versions will have a different ISBN.

My two cents...

This is true, but for Amazon and other resellers to make a profit, they buy at a lower price and sell at the "normal" price. If you buy directly from Vanessa Gould, she gets that extra amount that would otherwise go to a reseller. I think it's a nice way to show your support for her efforts.

Ok so, I emailed Michael and he said they are all the same film. So wherever you BUY it it will come with the extra film its not included in the PBS broadcast either, just in the dvd itself. Thanks for the help guys!
