Does anyone have an online source for good thin kraft paper?

Check out Origami-Shop.com, usually they have a good selection of kraft papers and other kinds of papers for origami.

Seems to me like they aren't selling that thin kraft anymore, :[.

Nicolas does sell Tant, however. What is the difference between thin Tant and Kraft ?

the kraft that Nicolas had been selling, was 28 gsm. and Tant is more stiff than a kraft. the gsm varies ~60-80

Tant and Kraft are completely different things.

Tant is rather thick and tears easily when not treated with MC. It looks very beautiful and comes in bright colours. When treated with MC it folds okay.

Kraft paper is very strong. While manufacturing the fibres are treated with Sodium Hydroxide. It can be bought in large rolls and is often used as packaging material. The most usual colour you get is brown, but you also get it as coloured gift wrap with different colours on both sides or bleached white. There are many different kinds of Kraft paper available from as thin as 10gsm up to cardboard-like stuff.

Unfortunately I can't answer this question. Some time ago I got some on ebay and another time I got it from a friend. Nicolas Terry used to have pretty thin Kraft paper in his shop, but it seems he doesn't sell it at the moment. You could still ask him if he knows where to get it. I've also seen it in paper stores and sold as packaging material in huge rolls. You will have to look around, but it could be that you need to buy a big amount.

I'm not fully sure with american metrics, but my rule-of-thumb guesstimator tells me 10 lbs ~> 38 gsm. Not particularly thin.
But no drama, next week I'm expecting some 20gsm Lokta tissue to come in ... hope it will solace me for a while.

If you live in the US, you can buy "masking paper" from Lowes. I believe it's a type of kraft paper. It's very thin and is available in brown and green. I just got two rolls of it today (I think the dimensions were 12" x 180' or something like that...) and it came out to around $7. I got the idea from strolgen, who folded Hojyo Takashi's Buddha with it (here).

I can only imagine that "Packseide" is ment with 10g/sqm Kraft-Paper. it's sold by the kilo and pretty cheap. every now and then I use it with a single sheet of foil for small insects.
I have a BIG role of high quality 37g/sqm kraftpaper. that is really thin enough for everything

37gsm is a little heavy for insects. While gsm isn't an absolute indicator of thickness, for a lot of insects that is on the thick side.

GSM indeed seems to be a poor measure for thickness. I've got some 50 gms Mulberry at home and it feels a lot thicker than 80 gsm Kraft. Furthermore, some of my 30 gsm Kozo is also rather thick.

As for insects, the 37 gsm Kraft I've tried is indeed on the thick side. Furthermore, I find it very difficult to shape Kraft...
