Metallic painting

Hello,
Has anyone experienced with painting their origami with metallic paints before. I want to give my model a colored metallic feel. I don't know how else to obtain large sheets of colored foil, so I was thinking making tissue foil and then paint the finished product.

However, I'm not exactly sure how to go about this, because I have never actually painted my models before. I've made tissue foil before though, so that part shouldn't be a problem. So to get a smooth metallic look, would I be painting over the 'foil' side with a translucent colored paint, or could I just use some sort of metallic paint and paint over the tissue? Would it look smooth and shiny? :)

I think it would depend on what you are folding, and whether it has to be fully painted. Some areas would be hard to paint fully, so I would suggest maybe getting a paint that would fold after its dry but it can cure at a later time, though be warned, not all paints will be malleable after its dry.If you cant paint before the best way to paint it would be not with a brush but rather with either a can of spray paint, or a paint sprayer if you have one laying around.

I've been able to get a metallic feel by taking regular colored acrylic paint and mixing it with gold or silver metallic paint before mixing it with the methylcellulose that then gets painted onto the paper.
