I recently started diagramming using Inkscape and I am almost done my first diagram. However, Inkscape saves in SVGs and I would like to know how to save in a PDF format. Thanks in advance!

Almost. I've only got a couple steps left to diagram. I'll be sure to send them to you when they're done.

im not totally sure if this works, but you could try it :D

ok, first choose your SVG file and go to file and then save as.
like this:

and then there should be a drop down thing with options. click it.

I tested this with your Walrus diagrams, but the pdf was just a blank page.

download PDF Creator and install it
that program is free and will install an PDF printer.
print out of inkscape using the new pdf printer to create a pdf.

Thanks soooooo much, Chris! It worked perfectly! I just needed to change the size of the diagrams themselves to fit the page, and it turned out perfect! I've edited mypost in my gallery so it has the link to the PDF version of my diagrams.

Joshua, the reason your diagrams aren't working is that you're not drawing them on the page. The Cairo plugin only exports what's inside the edges of the page, as defined by the .svg template...

zoom out a ways, you'll see the page somewhere. In the crab diagram, it was pretty far below the drawn part. I haven't checked the others. once you actually fit the diagram onto the page it should export fine.

thanks,
but what page? do you mean all of the diagrams have to be in the page window?

Joshua see the border (the black line with some shadow) around this picture. Your drawings need to be in there.

Of course the size of the border depends on what it is set at. Usually it's A4. (so putting everything in the A4 would make the diagrams really small if you make a pdf out of it, at least that is what I would assume for a 50+ step diagram ;))
