Hi all - I have seen some wonderful models on flickr that use mulberry backcoated to Tant and other papers. I already have some mulberry tissue/unryu and like it but cannot find any light-weight "plain" mulberry. The photos look like the "mulberry paper" does not have a lot of (or any of) the threads that unryu does.

I could find the following:
- http://www.hqpapermaker.com/handmade-pa ... -grey.html - this looks like "solid" color mulberry but the 75 gsm seems too high to be attaching to Tant.
- http://www.mulberrypaperandmore.com/tex ... paper.aspx - this says "text" weight so it seems like it would be too heavy for backcoating to Tant.
- Paper Mojo carries some light solid unryu but only with a pattern on one side.

I have done some combining of unryu, banana fiber paper, & mango leaf paper and really like it but these are all very light (tissue-weight) and don't get too thick when combined.

Is there a lightweight "solid" mulberry available or am I seeing the wrong thing?

I am going to try some light-weight lokta, too...it is 40 gsm so it should be thin enough to combine with other papers. Light-weight solid lokta is hard to find, too!

try this its mulberry tissue that is 15 gsm and thin enough to be backcoated

I don't know what paper stores you have at your disposal, but look for this paper. (From the supplier, Black Ink/GPC.)

I bought a sheet at the local art store. It's fairly inexpensive (cheaper than unryu).

If you want to color the sheet, you can try using diluted acrylic paint or ink.

They don't have the kozo/bamboo but they have a lot of other stuff.

Thanks - nice paper! I bookmarked the page...I have a long way to go with my folding skills before I can afford myself this kind of paper

has anyone tried this HQ Papermaker listed in the thread. Their site could not give me a shipping quote, they have not responded to an email request for a shipping quote

maddoghoek100, I emailed HQ PaperMaker several days ago regarding shipping to the U.S. - they replied right away so I hope they have gotten back to you by now.

I asked how much shipping would be for a $50 order and a $100 order. Based on some recent orders, they gave three examples: $63 order was $72 shipping for 4-day delivery; $75 order was about $50 for 3 to 4 weeks delivery; $153 order was $106 shipping for 4-day delivery. They said the shipping varies on type of paper and oil surcharges at the time of order. Once you put an order together, they will quote you shipping.

The emails I have gotten from them have been really informative and courteous. I suspect they have great customer service - so, does anyone have evidence of this??

Update:::I got an order from HQ PaperMaker ...they are indeed reliable & the paper is good. I got a lot of unryu and my favorite is a crisp Rice Husk Paper.
