Creased – Magazine for Paper Folders! - Call for Submission of New Diagrams

This is an open call for submission of new and unpublished diagrams of Origami models.

ABOUT CREASED MAGAZINE

Creased Magazine is all about new diagrams for every folder! It will include models and instructions of all different folding levels that everyone can follow easily. From new simple models to complex crease patterns, modulars and classic favorite folds, there will be something for everyone to enjoy! Our main purpose with this magazine is the spread the joy of Paper Folding.

There will be some articles here and there about creators, folders, and events, but the main focus for the print magazine is about diagrams and seeing the Origami community through pictures. Most of the written content, including interviews and a folding diary, will be available online.

We have commitments from well known creators from all over the world, from Japan to Europe to South America, Vietnam, South Korea, and many from right here in the United States - brand new models never before published. These names will be announced shortly on the website - http://www.Creased.com - along with preview sample images. We would also like to introduce you to some new talent and up and coming designers! We aim for Creased to be a well-balanced magazine of the old and the new, traditional and modern.

CRITERIA FOR SUBMISSION

The model should fit into the range from simple to high intermediate folding level. All types of models are welcome, including flowers, animals, geometric shapes, letter folds, and modulars. Complex models will be accepted for special issues and possibly for the website. Crease Patterns can also be submitted with an image of the finished model.

We prefer models that do not require glue or cutting for the final product but models that start with a non-square size are acceptable (hexagon, A4, triangle, rectangle, etc).

The submitted model must be property of the designer/submitter.

The model should be new and not in print or on any electronic site or forum.

The diagrams and a sample picture of the finished models need to be sent by email. We prefer to have vector illustrations to make it easy to re-diagram but it can be submitted in any of these various formats: Adobe Illustrator, EPS, FreeHand, CorelDraw, Inkscape. Other rasterized or condensed formats like JPG, GIF, TIFF, PNG, BIT and PDF are not really ideal, but do submit it, if it’s the only type you have. Hand drawn or photo diagrams are not preferred, see FAQ’s for more info.

Seriously Joshua? That was a little too quick. You should have been asking if the "well known creators" got the same lousy deal of a year subscription. You have to remember that the other publishing organizations such as OUSA or non-profit so you are volunteering to help the art form. When you agree to the same terms from a completely profit based magazine you're just being played for a fool. Look at how much they charge for a completely unproven magazine? It costs them nothing to reimburse you with a digital copy of their magazine, and meanwhile they're taking $40-60 per magazine subscription with almost no overhead on distribution costs.

Joshua I've seen your models, you have talent. Hoard your diagrams and publish a book through Dover or BOS, people will buy that book and you'll have a bigger slice of the pie that way then giving it up to magazine like this.

This website is the worst I've seen in a while. I hate the loud music and there is no "turn the music off"-button visible. The page itself doesn't fit on my screen and there is no possibility to scroll down. All in all I got the feeling if this magazine will be as lousy as this website I'll definitely won't buy it.

Well, I'm very sorry, but to be honest with you I really see no reason for subscribing to this magazine or even submitting anything (if I could).

The very minimum price I could pay for this would be $29.99- for the digital subscription, the most basic of options you offer (and you can't even download the mag from the site!?).

I currently maintain a subscription to the BOS, which for approximately 31 dollars I receive a lot more than just magazines.

~ I get a discount in there already fairly cheap supplies shop.
~ I get entry to any of their fantastic conventions, and I get to meet the members and have a great time.
~ I can use their large library whenever I want.
~ I can join their mailing list.
~ I can access content from their members area.

And finally, I can feel part of a large group of folders- and I get to read all sorts of great stuff in their magazines, reviews, convention reports, stories from members and more. I think putting together books of diagrams takes away from some of that society sense.

I'm sorry, but for me this magazine is just plainly not worth it.

I'm browsing it on opera (on mac resolution 1280x800) and have non of these problems, the sound can be turned off at the bottom of the page. maybe you have the problem with flash plugin on your browser Anna.

I use the latest version of Firefox with the most recent flash version. If a commercial website can't even handle one of the most used browsers it is crap.

Edit: I also checked back on Chrome and couldn't find a "Mute"-button there either.

Yeah but the whole page is only visible when you go into fullscreen mode. (at least here with a 1366x768 screen) Otherwise that mute button is nowhere to be found.

...and you cannot scroll down when you have a smaller screen.
