Re: What To Fold
Maybe Robert Lang's Flying Ladybird Beetle. I'm not sure how strong/thin display backing is, but I once folded that from copy paper.

Re: What To Fold
printer paper cut to a square or not
Origami is like food. You can love it and be obese. Or you can hate it and be and be a"cute". Or you can be a fail and your just that. A fail. Flickr : http://www.flickr.com/photos/76647015@N08/?saved=1

Re: What To Fold
I finally found a good store to get some paper and colored tissue. Now I got a huge load of premade squares but not really an idea what to make with them.
(all sizes are roughly guessed, because I cut them by hand)
Tissue paper:
black/ black 2 sheets of 50cm x 50 cm
black/ black 2 sheets of 10cm x 10 cm
brown/ brown 5 sheets of 30 cm x 30 cm
dark purple/ silver 6 sheets of 30cm x 30cm (maybe it's 25cm)
bluegreenish/ silver 1 sheet of 50cm x 50cm (used the other on diaz's unicorn)
bluegreenish/ silver 2 sheets of 20cm x 20 cm
bluegreenish/ silver 4 sheets of 10cm x 10 cm
red/ white 1 sheet of 15 cm x 15 cm
yellow/ white 1 sheet of 15 cm x 15 cm
green/ white 1 sheet of 15 cm x 15 cm
green/ green 4 sheets of 20 cm x 20 cm
blue/ blue 4 sheet of 20 cm x 20 cm
yellow/ white 1 sheet of 40cm x 40 cm
red/ red 1 sheet of 60cm x 60 cm
Other paper:
Grey elephant hide 1 sheet of 50cm x 50cm
Grey elephant hide 4 sheets of 15cm x 15 cm
greenish elephant hide 4 sheets of 25 cm x 25 cm
japanese handmade paper 34gr 1 sheet of 80cm x 45cm
japanese handmade paper 34gr 2 sheets of 45cm x 45 cm
grey elephant hide 4 sheets
I'll have to give some limitations to suggestions:
1) I only make animals, dino's are ok and mythical/ fantasy beings also. No objects, testellations or modular.
2) I don't like precreasing for 2 hours to find out it's some impossible base that I can't collapse (hate it when that happens)
3) I can't do crease patterns. (I've tried, but it's no fun at all.. at least for me. Extremely frustating) So there have to be diagrams
4) The hardest (or the ones that took the longest) models I've made so far, are giraffe Komatsu, hawk by Friedman, boar and horse by kamiya. maybe diaz's fox and unicorn also. I guess I'm at a (high) intermediate level.
5) If the sheet has two colors it would be nice to make a model with a color change
I'll be waiting for you're suggestions!!

Re: What To Fold
Tant: Goblin green and blood red 35x35 cm
2 White Terry Tissue foil
Little over 11 inches
Silver, copper, and blue Terry Tissue
Pretty big… I think it’s 22 inches or more. I can probably cut them in half/quarter.
Large brown double tissue.
Just anything complex I’m looking for a challenge.
(and just for a paper suggestion, I want to know what the gothic doll this user has made will look good in)

Re: What To Fold
One of the Ryujins might look good in a copper color. It'd be tiny, but Shuki's done it.

Terry tissue? 0-oBaltorigamist wrote:One of the Ryujins might look good in a copper color. It'd be tiny, but Shuki's done it.
It seems thick, are you sure?
EDIT:
Hm... perhaps the first version kamiya did of ryuzin, where it lacks the scales. Do two, then put them in a black shadow box. Then I can use the other half of the large sheet for smaller projects. Would 11.5 inches be too small for his ryuzin v1.2?

I'm already looking at this and am skeptical if it would be strong and thin enough. If not, I could try for 2.1, though again, very skeptical if it can handle all the thickness and stress.

Re: What To Fold
Sorry, I'm not sure how thick Terry tissue is. I just know it's been folded from kraft paper, and I doubt tissue paper would be thicker than that.

It's a little thicker than kraft (I have both in front of me)Baltorigamist wrote:Sorry, I'm not sure how thick Terry tissue is. I just know it's been folded from kraft paper, and I doubt tissue paper would be thicker than that.
Re: What To Fold
I'm doing ryujinn 1.2 out of a square taken from a3 printer paper. It's going quite well.

Re: What To Fold
It came out okay, as I did it too.
However, I messed up and didn't get the claws.

Re: What To Fold
Better than my nidoran from a cp. No front legs, or anything that could be front legs. I had to settle with a sitting down nidoran with an amputation.
