Eric Joisel's Paper Choice

The late Eric Joisel, many of his models have a very wood or gloss to them. How does he do it? What kind of paper is it? I saw his one dwarf that was all brown, and very well done and posed, yet when he showed the back, it has white edges. It was double sided. I've never seen a paper like that, and I'd like to try my hands at it. Even his normal white/beige models, the kind of paper that is, would be astounding to know.

For years he'd folded with foil, but the white paper he used was some kind of lokta if I'm not mistaken (one could check, he wrote several times on the subject), and I think he used varnish(es) to give his models much longer lifespans and for visual effect.

I have heard from Michael LaFosse that he actually sometimes paints his models after they are folded. Since the edges you described are white, this might have been one of those models. I know for a fact that his Pangolin is painted. However, I too would like to know what paper he started with. When he wetfolds, what paper does he use? For example, his musicians. The paper seems really strong and ideal for wetfolding. I wan to fold with it too!
