Transforming the Japanese pinwheel into a Sonobe unit

The Sonobe unit, a very popular building block in modular origami, is typically folded starting with the cupboard base. In the recent post in my origami blog at http://romigami.wordpress.com/2012/01/1 ... nobe-unit/, I showed how the traditional Japanese pinwheel model can be transformed into a Sonobe unit.
