Yet another Nicolas Terry book

Post by Alexorigami »

I haven't looked on Passion Origami for a while, but when I did today, my heart skipped a beat. And then another one when I saw who was the author: BERNIE PEYTON!!!!!!!!!!
http://www.origami-shop.com/en/origami- ... -2011.html
The name is Eco Origami and it will have a section on arctic animals, one on desert, one on pacific coast and one on tropical forest animals. The only model announced is the Anolis Lizard. There will be a total of 185 pages of diagrams.
There will also be a DVD, which will have SIX additional models diagrammed, for a total of 27. The DVD will also have a part on shaping models and making supports, and a ONE HOUR movie.
THANK YOU NICOLAS AND BERNIE!

This is great! I'm still waiting for #2, 3, 4, and 5 to arrive in the mail. I'm really excited about the DVD.

This , of course , is great news and a highly anticipated , long overdue book .
I like the idea of various eco-environments , and look forward to the variety of subjects .
In that Nicolas' site mentions late 2012 as potential release time period, I would imagine that the model selection is still a bit fluid .
While his complex model subjects are very welcome, I hope that he includes some of his earlier works , such as his owlets .
Essentially, anything that Bernie includes in his book will be fantastic !

May I wish success to all who cope with the mountains & valleys of Life,
with all its peaks & depths, as well as Origami .

I've known about this for months, but yet the news is very exciting. I met Bernie at the Centerfold convention (great convention) and his models are outstanding!

Which convention was he at? Makes me wish I'd met him. May buy the book when it comes out anyway.

I've been to both of those. (I was the one who taught the Rose, if you were in that class.) I was asking which year he went because I'm not sure if I've met him.

Thanks for your interest in our book. Bernie and me are really exited to present this project. We worked together since 4 years (exactly the project started on 17 may 2008) on it and we are really impatient to publish it.

We are working yet on the content of the book. I've just update it. We added some models more and also additionals diagram to explain how to create support (Bernie is drawing the diagram to create the vine in the anolis diorama we used for the cover. :

Image

So we have now 30 models in the book (animals, support ...etc)
and 6 more on the DVD for a total of 36 models.
We added the 6 additional diagrams on the dvd because often they are too complex and have too many pages to be include in the book (for example, one model need 19 pages to be folded !!!!)

Unfortunately, we've just decided to remove the movie from the DVD. But this is because we hope to include it in a other book more appropriate in futur.

Talking about the cover, it's just a project. It will probably change.

Bernie worked hard to create some marvelous models. He drew amazing diagrams that you've never seen before : they are so complex but in same time so beautiful that often you just want to contemplate them.
one exemple :

Good news, Robert Lang will write the foreword.

Today :
- Bernie is drawing the last diagrams (mainly the support explanation)
- We will start the the english text proof-read with Ariel and Marcio
- We need to finish the last test folding sequences with Pere and Guillermo
- We need to write yet the 14 pages at the beginning of the book (introduction, symbols, index...)
- We need to produce the DVD (a big news for us).
- ... and a lot of stuffs yet !!! :)

I will update regularly this page, as usual, with the last information about the book.

Thanks for your support

It would have been difficult to meet Bernie at CenterFold last year, as he was not there to my knowledge. i believe he did grace the New York Convention with his presence.

He is set to come as the guest of honor to CenterFold this year, along with Michael LaFosse.

What? I thought I saw him. Okay, maybe it was the wrong person. Sorry, I thought it was him though. His models were even on display so it might have been him. Sorry for the confusion.
