Do any of you like to write poetry? I do, and here is one of my favorite poems that I wrote.

sparks flying,
oh,
fire.
you are a flower,
dancing to the
golden wind,
petals disappearing,
to the lost
wind,
to the silvery wind.

you are a flower

I try to write limericks, but I'm not that great

The once was a hunter named Shepard
Who got eaten one day by a lephard
Said the lephard "Egad!
You'd be tastier, lad,
If you had been salted and pephard!

There once was a young man from the city
Who thought a skunk was a kitty
To make sure of that
He have it a pat
They buried his clothes- what a pity

I once knew a little young duck
Who said "Boy, this weather does suck
It is always rain
And it's quite a pain
I guess I don't have good luck"

Fanatic, that's a fantastic poem. I can't write poetry anymore. I used to though.

When I was 7, I entered the school's Presentation Day ceremony auditions. Basically, They have 3 junior acts and 3 senior acts. I got chosen for my poem but I broke my arm the day before the ceremony and couldn't attend :(
I can write songs, which is like poetry.

I like your first limeric best, Cupcake.

A quick Haiku.

Madmen folding squares
Time shaping paper with care
Some scoff others stare

i write some stuff with no real rhyme scheme, but i keep it energetic:

he takes an upbeat swagger
with a dagger to the heart
claiming with his last breath that he'll never part
never part with a love that never was
never was cuz she didnt love him that way
she wished he stayed just a friend and nothing more
nothing more and nothing less for sure
but pure, is what he took his love for
and now hes left with nothing more than broken dreams
so it seems, his love was not fruitful
though beaut'ful, it was cut at the stump
with a thump, the branches fell to the fire
the fire of his burning desire
ever more dire and its taken its toll
incinerating his spirit and burning his soul
along with his flesh, the rest
is just history, hes left burnt and blistery
in his mind: just mystery, for why such sorrow could occur
how the bullet that bore, tore through his heart and whats more
through his very life force, could be cursed
to shatter his spirit and splatter his dreams,
its a matter that deems him to forgive and forget,
instead he just lives in regret
you could bet, in a million years, a million tears later
and he'd still be crying, dying for a love that never was
never was cuz she didnt love him that way
she wished he stayed...just a friend

i also do some stuff that i havent seen before, idk what to call it really but its kind of poetry

I have a question. How short can a poem be? Can it be something like Sitting Small Ducks and that's it, or does it have to have more?

I think a poem has to be at least one line long. The line can be as long as you like.

Well, here goes.

I wrote this one while in college - by the way I took 18 years to get out of college!

Our dreams though fleeting as the wind
Are in subconscous minds well pinned
And though by nature they may be -
A sensualistic wanton sin
Are keys to set us free.

And now for something lightrer -
How about solving the poem puzzle I put on flicker
