I have found things with the search, but I cannot find a diagram :(

Anyway, I made Charles Esseltine's Dragon (7th) and this time with copper, silver and light brown crayons, shown here:

He looks a bit angry... might need a bit of rust removal :D

Time to eat your words.

I folded this way back in April, when you posted yours. I was going through pictures I took this year, and found this.

It looks terrible, but that's because it was a stupid idea.

Now that you've seen my Bahamut made from a one inch square, it is time for you to make good on your part of the deal: Learn to type. Reading would also be helpful. :)

To make up for cluttering the "What Have You Folded Lately" forum with that old piece of trash, here's something I made in the last couple weeks, the UC Santa Cruz mascot, the banana slug. (I don't go there, but I created it to give to my friend who does and hates the mascot :))

I drew this in Illustrator, which I've never used before, but since this computer doesn't have a working copy of Freehand (mine's being repaired),I tried it out, so it's a bit messy.

Turns out I missed a crease on the right side.

Robert Lang's Koi with (almost) all the scales. (Lang's book shows 30X30, mine has 26X26.)
Paper is 45 cm X 45 cm, "mulberry paper" tissue foil

A variation of Modular Cube By Lewis Simon.

I was bored in rolecall at school this morning so I folded one, to the sheer amazement of my friend. It's kinda funny 'cause it's so easy!

Thanks!

The scales took a long time. Just folding the initial pleats took about an hour and a half. Folding all the scales took maybe 5 hours. It would have taken longer but frankly I only made sure that the exterior folds are "on the creases" -- several of them are a bit scrunched on the creases that aren't visible from the outside. Don't tell anyone, OK? :P

Once the scales were done, folding the Koi itself took maybe 20 minutes. So about 7 hours total, I think.

Again, I only folded 26 pleats of creases instead of 30. That doesn't sound like a big difference, perhaps. But it means 676 scales instead of 900, so this cuts down the scale-folding time by about 25%. Each individual scale is about 25% larger too, which makes them easier to manipulate.

As you can see, it's 8 millimetres long... took me forever!

Umm... unfortunantly for you, no.

Anna (origami8) has made on out of 4 mm paper. I have also. the finished crane is really small, maybe one and 1.5 or less from head to tail.... or what looks like the tail... but good attempt.

It's still pretty small. My attempts at mini cranes don't go much further than a 1cm square, but maybe it's just I work better at a large scale. Has anyone used 1m squares lately?

I remember having read somewhere that the smallest crane was folded from a surgeon with a needle under a microscope from 1mm paper. I wonder where he got thin enough paper to make it possible because for my 4mm crane the tissue paper I took used to become very thick and hard to fold.
