Yeah, theres just so many discussion and pictures flying onto this topic, that we don't always have the time.

Yep Daydreamer, that's a really nice model - not often that you see one-sheet architectural structures in origami! Sydney Opera House anyone? :)

I'm interested in trying the opera house, but I doubt that I could get anything... But I'll try!

I couldn't resist this challenge so here's my attempt from a 22cm square of foil paper (no cuts).

Image

The base is just simple boxpleating from a 20x20 grid. The difficult part (as with the Taj Mahal) is the shaping. But with a lot of patience it should be possible to turn the base into a really nice representation of the Sydney Opera House.

Image

Here a picture from the front (back?) to proof that the two parts are connected and not from separate sheets.

Amazing! All you're missing are the color changes windows (only on the front sails in the different rows), and the small building in back (but it's a great start). Try looking for some pictures to model it off of.

I already did, it's just that its out of copy paper :P

And don't think I dislike your opera house! The salis amaze me. I was unable to do something like that on my version... In fact, the sails on mine are a bit odd... We'll have to see how it end up with some better paper.

After I've seen the buildings that Gerwin shows here a model came into my mind that I had designed last year. A
tower. Well, not really designed, but I had created it accidentally while I've folded David Pettys Ananas.

Well then, here's my next attempt at the Sydney Opera House, this time including the smaller third building. (I knew that this building existed but decided to ignore it for my first attempt to keep the symmetry of the model.)

Image

This was folded from a 50cm square of foil paper and is based on a 32x32 grid.

Image
Image

I used the extra paper needed for the third house on the one side to add some stairs on the other side.
Image

Also note that the inside of the front sails is (not very cleanly) colour-changed (which already would have been possible in my first version as well).
Image

The interesting thing about this model is the CP, which very closely resembles the layout (floor plan) of the building.
