Thank you.

The recommended paper for this model according to the book is 50cm elephant hide. If 30cm are a good size for this model is a tough question and depends on several things.
What kind of paper do you use. Thickness is an important factor and you want a paper that keeps its shape either by wetfolding or on its own.
Do you like to fold details on a small scale? Parts of the model like for example the claws become very small, if you like to fold with small paper this might not be a problem for you.
For me 30cm was about the right dimension and I think I wouldn't have liked a smaller paper, for other folders 30cm may be a bit small.

i tried the roc from 35 cm tant and quit towards the end, mostly because the thickness was causing the claws to splay quite badly. the interior of the talon do require successively smaller squash folds that can be hard to keep neat with 35 cm. if they're not perfect it's not a big deal, but many folders are nitpicky, almost by definition.

Silver Grizzly

Image

From a square of Thai Metallic silver paper with sides between 30 and 33 cm.

Folded for my grandma's birthday the other day.

I've folded this bear dozens of times, and every time I fold it, I add something new. Bear 2 is diagrammed in Tanteidan 14th Convention Book.

grizzly bear?

Jared! I love your model, but it is definitely not a grizzly. From this angle looks like a piggy. Do not be offended, because it looks cute and I really like it!
