Caradhruin's Gallery

Post by Caradhruin »

Ok, I was very doubtful about posting my little creatures. You see, I'm just a beginner, I've only used printer paper so far (although I'm planning to buy some more suited paper as soon as I can) and my models just don't look as neat as the others I saw in other users' galleries.
But well, I thought, if I don't show them I won't get any advice and I won't improve at all!
Then here are some of my model, all folded using printer paper (and it is notable as details are not neat) and all white-coloured. Please be nice while saying that they are horrible :D
None of these models come from my own design, they were all created following other's instructions.

Acorn (Beth Johnson)

Rabbit (Hsi-Min Tai)

Pegasus (Satoshi Kamiya) - without some detail (paper had become too thick)
Image

Fiery Dragon (Kade Chan) - after about six months, it's starting to lose its shape... And it's a pity because it's definitely my favourite creation!

Wasp (Anibal Voyer)

Scorpion (Tadashi Mori) - I made also a scorpion using baking paper, but despite having better-looking legs, it just won't keep its shape!

Its amazing you were able to fold this with common copy paper :o.

I really hope you get some other kind of paper ASAP :). In the mean time, why don't you just buy tissue paper in the closest stationery shop and give it a try? I'm sure you'll find some way better papers with time but I think tissue paper is worth trying.

Anyway, thanks for sharing your folds Caradhruin ;).

Thanks to you for commenting... :)
Yes I'll definitely give it a try, there are too many models I wasn't able to fold because of the paper!

Be careful, tissue paper alone isn't any good. You have to treat it in any way to achieve a good folding paper.
Here are two videos by Sara Adams that explain pretty good what to do:

These are some great folds with only copy paper! If you could get some kami or kraft, they'd be much much better!
I would rather fail trying than fail without trying....

Yesterday I bought some "Origami paper" (there was written nothing about what kind of paper it was) at a toy store... I think it's still a little too heavy to make some complex models, but at least it's coloured!

Elephant (Satoshi Kamiya) - I couldn't take a better photograph than this one...

Snail (Manuel Sirgo) - I surely made a mistake while folding the head, which wasn't supposed to be brown... But I like the output anyway!

I'm not that satisfied about this one, but I think it could have been worse!

The legs could probably have been better, but, being my first attempt with a square of paper smaller than the one suggested, I'm totally proud of it!
