I have different view on the origami. I focus my effort to clean folding, not to stunning complexity. It is not so interesting for people, I know, but I am trying to teach people to see "the difference".
Compare for example your squids with tank which is displayed elswere. I hope the difference is clear: clean, right shape and plains contrary to mumbled and/or munched paper to any shape. It is not stunning, it is ugly. I hope you understand (and others too).

This is what I find also find most enjoyable and pleasing about peoples models - elegance, life - not simply technical skill, which I appreciate as an excercise, a mathematical endeavour without really engaging with the subject.Ondrej.Cibulka wrote:I have different view on the origami. Perhaps apocryphally, Ryu Zin is a bit like this for me, I much prefer Kamiya's Little Bird or Splash! models.
That said, adams chen shows virtuosity in both areas.
The squid above, and the nun from the March Contest, are wonderful "simple" executions.
Still though, his amazingly complex & impressive winged angel, still has taste and appeal beyond the "wow" of all the flaps and points.
My favourite of those three is the nun though, for me, it lives in the way that the best origami does
Thank you for sharing adams chen, I aspire one day to your skill.

Praying Mantis 1.1 - inspired by Sipho Mabona's model.

Hi! It's been a long while since I've been active on here. I deleted my Dropbox years ago, so some things, like my Dragonfly Varileg guide, are lost to time. I may still have other things, though! Email me if you have any questions.
