A couple years back I remembering seeing some of the ships were actually collapsible, to a size that fits through the opening. A string is attached to specific parts that can be pulled to restore the ship's shape, and some glueing through skinny bottles helps to keep it in place.

You people aren't thinking the right way. Just saw a bottle in half, put the ready made ship into one of the halves, and glue the two halves together.
I've fallen down, and I can't get up.
