Juston

Post by juston »

Hey all, I just started up my own Flickr account and uploaded my most recent creations (from last month's challenge) and some ancient stuff (just because I've never shared it with anyone until now). I'll be refolding, photographing, and uploading some of my other old models. I'll also try to take part in more of the monthly challenges and keep my photostream current so I don't have to play catch-up like I'm doing now... so be on the lookout for new (and old) models from me soon.

Here's one of my oldest models... it's a heavily modified version of Neal Elias's dollar bill elephant.

And here's one of my earliest entirely original creations... Jabba the Hutt.

This is one of my (somewhat) recent models. I made him about nine months ago for a monthly folding challenge... Link from The Legend of Zelda.

For anyone that's interested in folding Link, I've included his CP in my photostream.

I've just uploaded the crease patterns for my entries into last month's challenge. I though they might be interesting for people to see as they're from triangles and you don't see that very often.

I'm still working on diagrams for my simple sauropods and photo-diagrams for my rose... I'm pretty handy at making CP's but I'm utterly useless at diagrams, so they still may take a while. Be on the lookout.

The Jabba one is excellent - if you ever diagram it, I'd strongly recommend sending it to a magazine. It'll go down well.

For copyright reasons, you may wish to call the model 'Habba the Jut'.

LOL yeah, I guess I need to give that some thought. I'd have to rename most of the models I've ever made If I were to published them. I've got a thing for licensed characters apparently.

An alternative is to contact the copyright/trademark holders of the original characters, and ask their permission. You can alway offer them the rights to use the diagrams in any way they see fit. Hence I have designed an official Weebl's 'Magical Trevor' and 'Badger Badger Badger', as Weebl/Jonti loved the models.

Good luck with Lucasfilm and Nintendo.

I agree. Nice job on Jabba and Link. They are very recognizable.

I really like the Mastersword on the Link figure.
Jabba is very nice too, though perhaps something could be done to define his eyes a bit more.

Thanks for the kind words everyone!

Re Jabba: He's a really old design of mine... so I may revisit him and bring some of my more recent origami knowledge to bear on him. I've got an idea for a couple of companion pieces for him and, if those come to fruition, this design will definitely get an update.

Oooooh, tell me you're going to do Slave-Girl Leia! She's always the favourite companion piece to Jabba.

Great foldings. I like the link although the detail in the items are odd compared to his face and his body.
