Zinc finger (Znf) domain Monochrome Cartoon Zinc finger (Znf) domain Monochrome Cartoon by PauliusOrigami, on Flickr
As a biochemist i do love proteins and their tertiary and fourth stuctures. I tried to combain Origami with biochemistry by folding proteins. I call this - Proteogami (proteo - protein; gami - paper) (I take the copyright of this, hehe
This method works best with foiled paper and with single chained proteins, until I come up with other methods for multichained proteins.
So my first work is Zinc finger domain - a single chained protein motif, that binds a DNA molecule.
It's a simple start - It has only two beta sheets and one alpha helix.
I'll later fold more complex proteins with a numbers of sheets and helices.

Me folding one of the first models I ever folded when I started origami. speed-up.
That looks awfully difficult for somebody just starting out.

Paulius I love all your work and wanted to say thank you for inspiring me with your Mona Lisa. I tried making something similar (a map of the Americas) and posted it here: viewtopic.php?f=15&t=79&p=120628#p120628
Thank you!
PS I'm not good at crease patterns and sadly was not able to figure out your Fibonacci box
