I designed a flexicube from one sheet (1x6).
I'm working now on the double star flexicube.

Wow, 1x6 only? I know a version of the flexicube that uses a 1x130 strip.
Care to share your secret of how you did it (CP/diagrams)? Would be really interesting

its surely made from that magical multidimensional paper, to get 8 six-sided cubes out of a 1x6 paper
oh, to make sure that nobody gets bothered: I was kidding.

I would also be very interested in Gadi's folding method, it sounds very effective.

The 'x' on both sides should be joined.
==> 2/30 of the paper is overlapped to close the FlexiCube.

Kijjakarn, thanks for the links, but I know how to fold this one by heart for some years now. Gadi's version has the bonus of not being really woven but more folded. Also 1x6 paper is more readily available than 1x130.

Hey Gadi, do you have a photo-guide about how to put your cube together ? I have to admit that I'm not very good folding from cp's.

I don't have better instructions, and I don't have time to make such.

This is a really neat model, so I folded it, took some pictures, and made little photo-diagrams.

With the CP, we can see that there are three basic parts.

I apologize for getting all touchy-feely here but i just had to point out that this is a great example of the uniqueness of the origami community.....Gadi creates and shares with us all a wonderful and innovative design and takes the time to document the CP....then Nathan lends a helping hand and takes it to the next level for those (like me) that can benefit from extra instruction...and all this in about a day's turnaround.....i think it's encouraging that amidst all the stealing and cheating that goes on, that there are good things that come out of the immediacy of origami on the net....anyway, i'm off to fold this great model....thanks to Gadi, Nathan, and all the great users here which make reading and learning from the posts so much fun...

Wow, I have been wanting to do one of this even if i had to do the cubes one by one and then add glue and now I find there is this model done from a single sheet. Incredible. Thanks so much for sharing, I'll start to work on it right away.

Check this out: the CP on a piece of paper 8 inches by 44 inches, or 20,3 cm by 111,8 cm.



The pencil is there for reference. I printed the CP onto the paper

8x44 is not 1:6 ratio.
I counted the squares, it seems fine.
You probably use 8x48.

I was worried: when you do the collapse between 1 and 3, I had two of the flaps that are inserted, so I thought that I had messed up somehow. Luckily, now I know that it was OK!

Gadi you're right, it is not 8X44. It's actually about 7.25 inches by 43.5 inches. Sorry for the confusion!
