Seven Origami Swans a Swimming

I just won 3rd place in an origami contest in deviantart with this one. My first contest ever.

I think they get better as I go along. I've still so much to learn!

Made the word "love". It's a little *off* but you can hopefully still see the word.


Then I did the fish scales. I have to get the book to do the rest of Lang's Koi.


and just last night... I did this mask! I will not use vellum the next time.

These are all very beautiful! I especially like the flowers, like the roses. I think I might want to do a bouquet!

Thank you paperlion. I hope that you do a floral arrangement. It would be great to see that. It took me (what seemed like) forever to get that twisting motion. I am grateful there are many videos online to help show people how to do folds. Sarah Adams makes the best videos out there in my opinion. Very informative and relaxing to watch.

The roses that I do are a simplified version of the Kawasaki rose bud. I guess (just about) all roses these days are some kind of variation of that one. I don't do all of the measuring pre-creases on them. I take a major shortcut and just fold the little square in the middle and then build off of that. I like how they turn out WITHOUT all of the little creases in them.

The paper for the roses is imported from India. Handmade with flower petal inclusions and very thick. It gives the roses and organic feel to them and a cloth-like texture.

I will try to figure out how to make then bigger. I've got a lot to learn about photography and computers. It may take me some time to figure that out.

I was folding a lot of flowers the other day, and I realized I don't know any stems! What did you use in your arrangements? The rose stems look sturdy yet elegant.

The stems I have are not origami. The orange dahlia-like ones are green pipe cleaners. The roses are floral wire (18 gauge) and then wrapped with floral tape.

There is a simple stem that can be made in origami. Check out youtube and do a search for "stem". They are usually very good for tulips.
