Monthly Folding Challenge - March 2007

I like your work grizzy man. They look so clean and elegant.

I decided to fold something of my own... something I don't have much experience with... but after having one of those folding sessions that last three hours but seem like thirty minutes, I came up with this.

I wish I had paper thicker than foil but retains its shape as well...

Thanks. I think I'm going to try something else because I sort of feel like I cheated the face just by making such slight indentations for the eyes and nose, but I'm happy with the teeth at least. Making the cranium round and the mandible fit underneath it proved difficult...

Uh...I hate to have to be the one to tell everyone this, but "skull" does not include the lower jaw -- the lower jaw is the mandible. The skull and mandible together constitute the cranium. (Should make folding things easier, though)!

Hi dinogami! It's always good to see another forum member join.

You might want to re-check your anatomy textbooks. The skull is made up of the cranium and the mandible.

But you're right, creating a model without the mandible would be easier.

It's a bit late for a lot of people, isn't it? However, I think that models that are just a cranium would be rather dull...

Heh, it's been almost a week without any other entries. I guess, I'll shake things up a little with my skull mask :

It's my own design and made from a 30cmx30cm square of homemade foil.

Yea Sunburst, it looks awesome. What did you do to make the gaps on the ends of the jaw?

I'm still working on another one but I dunno if I can top this...

Superb work everyone - just over halfway through the month.

To clarify, the skull includes the cranium (the vault the the brain is in), the facial bones and the mandible, or the lower jaw. I suppose that folders could fold any of these structures if they wished.
