thats AWSOME!

heres something intersting to try. make a flying object (paper airplane, rugby ball or anything that could fly) so that its not symetrical but it will still fly in a straight line. you can use any size and shape of paper you want.

i have one i made but i need to take pictures and upload it.

Very messy, I'm sorry guys. I also don't have the arms& hands right, the paper is too small to play with it and get it right. next time with bigger paper!

*update* I've fixed the arms, I think.

Yes, I did it without CP or diagram. Just from photos on Hojyo's website. That's why I didn't get the arms right the first time! And because of the paper, I couldn't really go back and figure it out, the paper would tear.

The "feet" on your model haven't been folded up in any photos I've seen... are they in the diagram?

Also thank you, your photo of Hojyo's wizard was the only one that showed the back of the model. It was very helpful!

Very well done Andrew!
On your model the feet are sticking up a bit as well ;)

Not in the same way... in Kafar's photo, there are two flaps visible, and both are folded up. on my photo, the inner flap is only visible on the left side.

Thank you!

Hey everybody-- what should I do next? any suggestions? I can't promise that I'll do them all, but if you have any favorite models... I'd like to try. No supercomplex models please.

Maybe you will fold some of Hojyo's fishes, for example nautilus, or fish in space, etc. ??

Very good Anermak! I should try that some day...

Dreaming Dog, by Giang Dinh

reverse-engineered from here:

Not as easy as it looks, there are no references for most of the model. You can see I refolded the head several times! I really should have wetfolded this model...

I have always been impressed by the organic looking models folded by Giang Dinh!

Would it be possible to put some rough instructions together, now that you know how to fold the dog?

Good work with the joisel design, anamerak :-)

Excellent reverse engineer !

The diagrams for the Dreaming Dog are on pp. 88-90 of OrigamiUSA Origami Collection 2007... It is listed as a complex, wetfold. It is mostly impressionistic - there are only 13 steps !

Even with the diagrams, I'm still working on getting the head and the position correct.... I even have a dog that sleeps like that, as a model :-)

Short answer: Sorry, I can't. If you come to PCOC 2009, I'd be happy to teach it to you though!

Long answer:
I won't post any instructions, CP, or structural details without getting the permission of the model's creator. The model is his intellectual property, and it would be illegal for me to distribute instructions without his approval. Even posting a picture is sort of shaky, legally speaking; technically, this is a derivative work, and his copyright still applies. I'm not making money off of this, so I don't think it matters, but still...

Sorry to be so harsh, but there have been too many problems with creator's rights not being respected, and I don't want to be responsible for making anybody angry.

No problem, ahudson.
I didn't think about those copyright issues...

Perhaps i'll ask Giang for the OUSA diagrams since i won't buy the Collection for just 2 pages. Well, and if he doesn't respond i think i can manage to live with that. Its just a sleeping dog. Though i must commit, the best model of a sleeping dog i ever saw ;-)

ps.: what's the pcoc ? if i ever come to california i let you know :)
