I think I'll go with flowers. Are we going with one sheet, or are modulars allowed?

My first entry. I wanted to make something with a realistic number of petals rather than the multiples of four that models often end up having. It's still folded from a square; the extra paper folded in to make the starting pentagon becomes a locking mechanism for the petals.

[updated with refold and better picture]

Here's a Ghost Orchid I designed the other day. One uncut square, mix of 30- and 22.5deg.

I've always wanted to do one, and this provided the perfect opportunity to do so.

That's all from me, I think, so start the poll whenever you're ready.

Baltorigamist, another forum user pointed out that my first flower design is basically the same as this one.

I assure you that I had not seen that model before it was brought to my attention, and this is just a case of convergent independent design. However, if you think this is unfair, I am entirely willing to withdraw that submission and restart the poll with my orchid as my only entry. Just let me know what you think.

It's really up to you. I say you can keep it as long as you hadn't seen that before, but you can make the final decision.

I'll keep it, then, for convenience's sake. The deadline for starting the poll is the 26th, so if you change your mind before then, there's still a reasonable window for a re-poll. Thanks for understanding.

No problem. The way I see it, you shouldn't be penalized for something beyond your control.
