tschobigami wrote:I didnt start it until now as i wasnt sure about balto. I suggest starting the first round on 02/08/2014, a saturday. everyone who still wants to participate should write a message here until 31/07/2014, so i can set up the plan on the first and start everything on the second of august.

I suggest 3 weeks for designing + 1 week for voting. Please give me your opinions about that :)

If you have any further suggestions dont hesitate to write them here!
As i always wrote in this thread, i would be willing to organisate it this year. You can find the dates in the quote, roodborst.
I could use some help as i will propably be unavailable for two weeks at the end of september, but i will organisate the rest.

Up to now we have:
  • Swapnil Das
    greencube07 (?)
    GrossMichael (?)
    Baltorigamist
    myself
    origamifan11
    roodborst
    tschobigami
    Edg
    quiet marverick
    Kyle2952 (?)
    malifold
    OrigamiGeek
    DjOrigami
    piemiam (?)
    TheNewOrigamist
    JAPC
as participants. the ones with (?) didnt confirm the date. Please do so if you read that, @greencube, GrossMichael, Kyle and piemiam!
So we would have a total number of 17, but it is still possible to participate if you write here until 31/07/2014. I will decide on the mode, when i have the total number of participants.
If there are any other open questions, dont hesitate to write them here!

So there are approx. 17 people so far, not counting anyone else who signs up in the next week. Unless there are several byes, it would be hard to have an even bracket. So why not have a 2-duel set of "friendly" matches like in the World Cup? The 16 people with the most votes between the two duels would advance to the bracket, and everyone else would be eliminated.
Though this suggestion largely depends on the number of people in the end, so it's hard to tell how plausible it will be.
After the fall, we rise.

Dates doesn't matter with me as long as the duel starts soon :)

I'm still participating, sorry for not confirming it. Looking forwarf to the duels, the dates don't really matter to me.

I think the best way to deal with the awkward number of 17 participants is to organise either a group of three with one person going through, or:
5 groups of three and 1 group of two, eliminate 1 person at each duel to give
12 people, or 4 groups of three, again eliminate the last person, to give
8 people, continue a typical elimination bracket.

Three people duels would go as follows: person A picks 3 topics, person B eliminates 1 topic, person C chooses from the two remaining topics.

So lets get it going :)

Sadly neither piemiam nor kyle replied here (i tried to contact them both via pm and mail also) so they both are out. Advantage is that including tadashi we will have an even bracket of 16, so there will be 8 duels in the first round:

1.) Edg vs. tschobigami
2.) greencube07 vs. tadashimori
3.) DjOrigami vs. quiet marverick
4.) origamifan11 vs. myself
5.) GrossMichael vs. OrigamiGeek
6.) Baltorigamist vs. roodborst
7.) JAPC vs. TheNewOrigamist
8.) malifold vs. Swapnil Das

(the duels were generated randomly)

The first person in the bracket should post three topics until monday, 04/08/2014, so the round ends on sunday, 24/08/2014.
No multiple entries.
The rest of the rules (number of sheets, shape etc. ) should be agreed between the participants.
Good luck and have fun! Hope this is going to be a great tournament with some amazing new designs :)
