Monthly folding challenge July 2015

This is the topic for the montly folding challenge for July 2015.
Inspired by the winner or June I choose this months topic.

The Topic is "Curves and rounded shapes".
- no cuts, no glue
- mc allowed
- wetfolding/shaping allowed
- model must be made from a square

Because in origami you use mostly triangelur shapes I have always been impressed by curves and rounded shapes. Like the curves on capes and other clothing or the rounded shapes you get with models like a spinosauros or the way kamiya made the round back on his holy wild boar. Or how some people can shape a round eye on insects and fish. So use your imagination and show me your curves!

I'm looking forward too see some amazing designs this month.

As someone who has created a clam model and, not egotistically, thought it superior to most other models, I bow to the new king. I now consider this the best model I have yet to see of clam models.

To complement last month's needlessly difficult submission, I went with tastefully simple for this month. I was struggling to think what I could make, and originally thought "octopus," but asked some friends for suggestions and came up with my Homo sapiens (Woman) . Folding: super easy. Shaping: total pain in the [behind]. I'm still not happy with the shaping!

I did a bit of sight only experimenting to set the two curves and the four straight lines (which force the back into a curve). Ultimately, I used Turbocad to make the curve folds at a depth of 1/5 of the width of the paper and the parallel lines at 1/5. Despite the experimentation, the changing of the curved folds resulted in a straight to the ground float and a flat landing. You will note some slight turn in one direction that is because I move my thumb to release the paper and it springs to the thumb side when released. You may note some slight variations in each successive folds (dimples that I forgot to press out).

I would love to have about 50 people release these from the top railing of a hotel like the one for the Convention in Albuquerque all at the same time. I need to figure how to overcome the thumb release inconsistency.

Changing the straight line fold locations can result in a forward motion. What sounds like a loud clack when landing is because the mike on the camera laid on the wooden floor is very close to the landing position which with practice can be deadly accurate. Can I have 50 or so volunteers?

That sounds like an awesome project, I hope you find some volunteers. it might be worth it to create a separate topic for volunteer-finding too.
