Thee challenge for November is to fold something that represents

"The textures of life"

The fold represents the visual proof
That life is, will be or was!
The fins, the furs, the fuzz,
The skins, the scales, the segmented tails
The tracks, the footprints, the trails
The habitats, the nests, or Homes
The claws, the teeth or the bones
Or if you so choose, a shadow will do,
As like a life trail that is following you
The wrinkles, the scars, perhaps lines of motion
The splash from a fish, the wake in the ocean
Make a fold or a pattern - so we all will know,
Where life is, where life was, or might go.

Rules – You May use Any foldable material (including things like cellophane or tin foil)
Patterns or textures must be folded (not printed or part of unfolded material) – max of two colors (one for each side of material)
Multiple rectangles allowed (including Squares) – no other shapes may be used as start.
Cutting and adhesives should be limited
Original fold (designed and folded for this challenge) after October 31 and before December 1

Enter, enjoy, fold, and have fun

This is my vision of the subject

Tree = life = birth = woman

This is not exactly origami in the way we used to fold, but I think it expresses the subject, so I decided to share.

My entry may, at first, seem inappropriate for the challenge but the "textures of life" poem sounds almost like a description of the way paleoartists sift through all the disparate sources of information about an extinct animal and attempt to assemble that information into something not only accurate to the real thing but lively. When I was researching and designing this model I felt very much like I was reassembling this creature from the small clues it left behind, in stone.

First of, congratulations to all participants, all of your models are great.

It's a tough decision, but third place goes to Juston. I liked the idea of something being born from a left behind clue.

Second place goes to marmalade. Trees are a wonderful symbol of life and you really got the textures thing with incorporating the woman.

Finally first place goes to -sebl-. A praying mantis getting eaten by a venus flytrap very fitting for the last sentence of the poem: "Where life is, where life was, or might go."
